Château La Serre is located just outside the village of Saint-Émilion. La Serre takes its name from its south-facing position (La Serre can be translated as 'greenhouse' in reference the property's excellent sun exposure). The château was erected in the 17th Century and procured in the 1950s by the d'Arfeuille family, who are still in residence today.
The soil is a combination of chalk, clay and sand and supports a vine mix of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The wines are modestly priced, so they offer excellent value in a good vintage. Fresh and clean in style, their aging potential is around 6-10 years.
